Much of this blog is about religion, but the same parts of our mind that create our religions, creates our politics, our allegiances, our superstitions and even our pseudo-sciences (and “sciences”).

So many of my friends are caught in world views that are just false (which includes most “alternative healing”, I think). It’s frustrating not to see how to help them escape.
The problem is one of epistemology: how do we know that homeopathy doesn’t work? “Alternative” people hear rejection of homeopathy as nothing more than power claims of a competing industry, and as ones that have no more epistemological basis than those of a competing religion.
It’s probably very unusual to make a transition from homeopathy to mainstream medicine; and probably the few that do are well-closeted about their former lives. So you may be almost uniquely situated to help. Your willingness to be reasonable and respectful with moderate opposing views (in the case of religion) will also be valuable.

I’d also be interested to know what originally attracted you to homeopathy.
I am in recovery from previous homeopathic consumption. I am interested in the logic of the “more dilute is stronger” conundrum that is tossed around among devotees of this type of treatment. I hope you cover this at some point, even if it’s in the “I just can’t take anymore of this garbage” section of the essay.
