Purpose

cropped-ouroboros-avatarMy Blog’s Purpose

I started this blog in 2009 to address exclusivism both in religious circles and snobbism in atheist circles.  Later, finding it very fun to write, I include other interest areas of mine including: philosophy, psychology, medicine and language, ethics, poetry, politics and more.  In all these, I am analytic, explorative and playful — looking for connections and patterns everywhere.

The blog title is pointing at the importance of “triangulating” between different methods of understanding in order to arrive at a wider view. My methods are playful, analytic, artistic, irreverent, skeptical, pragmatic and much more — for I am many people (see my Whitman quote in the sidebar).

Navigating life is complicated but it is safer when we check our choices against many trusted and tested sources.  All our beliefs are biased by our emotions, our dispositions, our preferences and our experiences.  For this reason, the more one triangulates the better.  Likewise, to truly understand another person’s ideas, it is important to understand their temperament and life experiences.  To this end, I include many bibliographic stories on this blog.

The Avatar & the Banner

Being playful by nature, I often change this site’s avatar and banner and avatar. Today’s images:

  • The Script:  just being playful
  • A Triangle: for the method of triangulation in life’s navigation
  • A Dragon Ouroboros:   (See wiki) The term derives from ancient Greek: οὐροβόροςfrom οὐρά (oura), “tail” + βορά (bora), “food”, from βιβρώσκω (bibrōskō), “I eat”.  I like the dragon form because of it’s myths. Note, in is winding counter clockwise as a play on time.
  • The Exclamation Mark:  to illustrate the playful, explorative aspects
